This joint venture provides ONIT with the local expertise, technology and infrastructure needed to meet the demands of organic, non-GMO cannabis and hemp cultivation throughout Central and South America.
ONIT Latin America will be headquartered in Columbia. The country provides favorable regulations towards growing for THC and CBD markets, a perfect climate, and a strong appetite for organic, sustainable farming practices. In fact, a recent article on herb.com, We Visited the Small Town in Colombia That Will Supply the World With Weed, said “Colombia’s climate and farming industry perfectly position it to dominate the global cannabis market.”
“Columbia is positioned to be a real powerhouse in global cannabis and hemp production,” noted Gerry Martin, ONIT Science’s chief executive officer. “By teaming with proven experts in this market under the ONIT Latin America banner, we feel strongly that our international business will quickly become a major force throughout the region while delivering additional value to our shareholders.”
While the company will initially concentrate its efforts on providing Columbian farmers with a viable alternative to chemical farming, ONIT Latin America will also develop markets in Peru, Guatemala, Honduras and Ecuador with more to follow.
